Day 8

It’s Saturday.

Depending on how your life is unfolding right now, that might mean more space to carve out for practice today. It might on the other hand, mean less solo space than during the week (as it does for me).

Either way, if you have 20-30 extra moments to carve out today, take a listen to the Arrival Conversation (found here in the archives) and then open up your journal and see if you can spend 3 pages or so writing out your own arrival story of this moment.

You can free flow with the narrative or use these prompts, inspired by our arrival meditations of this last week, as a way to gentle walk your inner experience out onto the paper —

  • What am I feeling? Can I make contact with what I’m feeling? A mood, a quality, anything — what does it feel like to be me in this moment?

  • Are there any emotions? Can I be present to them, acknowledge them? And yet — not get sucked down into the story of those emotions. Can I be present to my emotions?

  • Am I experiencing any physical sensations? Parts of the body that jump out at me, that need attention, even those parts that feel generally “good”? Can I be present to how my body is, in this moment?

  • What about my thoughts? The quantity of them — is my mind a busy place or quieter today? What’s the quality of my thoughts, the pace, the cadence, the rhythm of them? Can I be present to my thoughts without necessarily needing to solve them as “problems” in this moment? Can I be with my thoughts?

  • Any larger rhythms, unfoldings, themes that mark this moment for me? Am I standing at a threshold? Or is this moment more settled? Can I be present with what it feels like to simply be, to arrive in, this moment in my life? Where am I in my own process of arrival?

Journaling is one of the most effective practices I know.

It can be just for you.

Though sharing our stories is good medicine too —

Leave a comment below with some piece of your own arrival story that is surprising you right now.

And of course, today’s meditation is below. A practical, guided audio meditation (and complement to yesterday’s video!) of how to settle into your best seat, literally. Arrival, embodied!

More to come, for now — just enough,
Cath
