Day 9: Begin

WELCOME TO DAY 9.

Can you believe we’re almost 10 days in?

(I can’t!)

The first 2 weeks of 40 EM are all about arriving and gradually beginning — which is a process, and not a one-and-done.

Especially when we’re dealing with matters of the heart and mind and soul and body — this is not a linear thing!

And especially when Real Life is still playing out all around us, from our own everyday to the big, startling heart wrenching things going on all around the world.

Some days will feel awesome, some maybe not. You’ll hit a roll, and then you might fall off. It’s ok. No Big Deal. Just come back.

TAKE YOUR TIME. PACE YOURSELF. DO WHAT YOU CAN. LET IT BE ENOUGH.

I promise YOU’RE GETTING WHAT YOU NEED WHEN YOU’RE READY FOR IT.

AND YOUR LEARNING STYLE — TRUST IT.

40 Early Mornings is not a top-down approach to teaching and learning, where there’s only one, objective “truth.”

In a  “community model of truth,” we all have something to offer, share, and learn from each other.

I’ve used a variety of ways to present the material — written inspirational content, written actionable content, audio recordings, interactive 1:1 coaching sessions, a yoga video or two, prompts to spark your own curiosity and contemplation — because we all engage with materials differently.

Some of us are visual learners, some experiential, some quiet, personal, observational learners.

I want you to know you can engage with the material as much or as little as is right for you.

You don’t have to read, watch, and interact with everything. (This is menu, not a to do list.)

But you might.

Trust that what you need to get out of this program will make its way to you.

FINALLY, JUST ASK.

I’m a real-live person behind 40 Early Mornings. You can hit reply to any day’s email and you’ll get me on the other side!

Email me and please keep commenting here — your words on these posts are bringing this program to LIFE!

REMEMBER, THIS IS A PRACTICE NOT A PERFECT.

If you’ve ever taken a yoga class in the last 20 years, I bet at least one of them began with a teacher asking you to “set an intention.” That can feel a little too on the nose for me sometimes. But the truth is — what we give our attention to becomes our intention, whether we consciously mean it to or not.

This prompt is classic 40 EM. Put pen to paper on this in your journal today. Bonus if you leave your intention in teh comments below too ;)

I, ____________________________, hereby commit to 40 days of showing up for myself, my work, my life in my daily practice because I believe …

I’ll see you right back here tomorrow morning,

Cath

P.S. We’ll keep going with the body-based practice this week. Build this muscle memory for presence in your body, one day, one breath at a time.
